Jupiter (revised)

On my to Berlin by train, I met a lot of interesting people. For instance, Tom and I spoke for hours about the famous American politician, Thomas Jefferson. As I pretended to listen, his green eyes kept me mesmerized and in a daze. I thought to myself, ‘maybe this 18 hour train ride was not such a bad idea.’ Sadly, Tom’s stop arrived and his girlfriend picked him up. Her red Revlon lipstick stained teeth stood out like a red stop sign. Then I just imagined the smell of green and yellow onions on her breathe.

As the train moved along, an elderly woman who had a splitting image and smile of the Mona Lisa replaced Tom. She had in hand a book by J.K. Rowling, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. The elderly woman became bored of her book so she started talking to me about blue jays, sparrows, and peacocks for what seems like a century and right then and there I felt like taking a 9mm gun to my head. Possible grab a rake or maybe even a shovel to heat over my head like mashed red potatoes.

I turned my head to the window and saw the signs passing by which seemed a little bit frightening since it read, “STOP”, “NO TRESPASSING”, and “DO NOT ENTER.” However, there were signs as strange as this woman that read: “Your Name St.”, “Earth Sudan”, and “Please Do Not Empty Your Dog Here”. I suddenly began laughing hysterically, which did not amuse the elderly woman, what so ever. She looked at me strangely and yelled “NO!” to me as if I was a child then took off to a seat in the next car train.

It was 12 pm in the afternoon and I still had a few more hours until I reached my destination. I pulled out my bag of Kellogg’s cereals and bottle of Nestle chocolate milk as the train traveled through lush, green scenery. I began to doze off into a daydream but my eyes then lit up like a light bulb; I thought of what the colors outside the window reminded me of and all I can think about was Jupiter. How does one imagine Jupiter when they see colors of green, blue, and black I wondered? Jupiter is the largest planet in the solar system and Berlin (in my own opinion) the largest trip in my journey. Berlin symbolizes my dream destination; it sticks out as huge planet just like Jupiter on the map.

My thoughts scattered as the train neared my stop but the images and the colors still remained in my mind. I grabbed my unread San Francisco Chronicles and kept pondering my experience in Berlin as I grab my items. “Jupiter is going to be great,” I thought to myself.

  1. I liked the onion breath and several of the other 'naturalizations' of the difficult ingredients.
The Berlin - Jupiter analogy/comparison is interesting, but seems to go on for too long, becoming a bit belabored.
Were the ingredients all used? Not really...
