A day in the life of a backpacker-by Christian and Kristine(Kris)

Two American backpackers were walking down Cockburn Street late at night. Sounds of a Burrowing owl and a Nightingale followed them. They were casually dressed, though the girl wore some shiny smashbox lipstick. On one side of the road they saw signs saying “graffiti it`s a crime”, although the walls were covered with it. On the opposite side of the street a sign saying “No trespassing. Violators will be shot, survivors will be shot again” guarded a private yard. The large houses were finally replaced by regular shops such as Ben and Jerry`s and Chipotle as they reached the bus stop through a street called “The Shortcut Road”. The girl, Sarah, needed to use the restroom. On the restroom floor was a sign telling her to be cautious of the wet floor, and by the sink another sign that said "Remember to wash your hands…to stop infection." By the restroom standard she would certainly follow the advice. As she was about to exit she noticed a poster giving information about a star called Sulafat (Tortoise in Arabic). She grinned when she noticed the “I <3 turtles” that was scribbled next to it. When she got back to boy, Kevin, a mother and child had also arrived and were awaiting the bus. The child said: “A, big bus, big bus, a big bus. Are we going to take the bus? A big bus, big big bus!”. His mum replied: “Yes, we are taking the bug bus”. The child continued: “Black bus, black bus. Are we going to take the black bus?” His mum answered: “That may very well be!”. Finally, the bus arrived and they found their seats. The bus ride was hours long so they decided to make the best of it by reading. Sarah continued on her thriller “Sharp Objects”, whilst Kevin, who was into politics, read an article about Il Duce Benito Mussolini. Early next morning the bus arrived at the destination. Due to the long bus ride they decided to go for a stroll to stretch their legs. While they were walking they overheard a group of people doing some activities in the park, which was filled with people, acrobats and jugglers. The conversation went as follows: Boy: “Is this a proper stretch exercise?” Girl: “Hell no, pull your other leg in as well.” Other girl: “You`re such an awesome couple” Girl: “We are actually not a real couple.” Boy: “Yeah, we just live together cause the rent`s way cheaper”. The girl smacks the boy. As the backpackers started talking to the group they learned they were going to attend an anti-warfare march later that day, which they invited them to come along to. The backpackers went to a shop to acquire paint, nailer and a glue gun, to build a life-sized Bazooka for the march. Afterwards they attended dinner with the group were they among other things ate Japanese bunching onion, Walla Walla Sweets and Fingerlings. This was a day in the life of a backpacker.

  1. Genre problem: The beginning sentence clearly signals 'fiction!' - and it pretty much stays that way. I'm not really sure where these guys went to - what was the destination? Some ingredients were not properly naturalized, esp. the birds and the food items (lists)...
