Julie OJ: Hills like Elephants - Diary

Diary genre:
Dear Diary
You are my only true confidant. We are finely on the train, so I can try to collect my thoughts and share them with you.
‘He’ doesn’t want the baby and I thought he would be happy. I tried to sound like I didn’t have a specific opinion about the baby, to see what he thought we should do about my pregnancy. It is clear to me that he thinks I should have an abortion. My feelings are mixed. On the one hand I already feel that this baby is a part of me but can I raise a baby alone? And can my heart bear to lose him over a thing that is barely alive.
I have decided that during this train ride I will make up my mind.
Thank you for listening.

  1. OK use of the same character as in Hem's story, just with her thoughts and dilemma 'translated' into the diary, confessional genre. Confession is of course the last thing we'd ever get to read from a Hemingway character in his own prose...

  2. I really like it! This diary illustrating her point of view on the matter fits well as a counterpart to my text which illustrates his point of view!
