The Last Duchess - rewritten

To my dearest sister

It has been so long since my last letter, but life here has been without much incident since my last letter. And yet I now write to you, as something is troubling my mind. Life here with my loving Duke is wonderful yet the Duke is beginning to show unrevealed and honestly darker sides to his otherwise loving nature. It all started the day before yesterday as I was sitting model for my portrait. The painter Pandolf, is an amusing and artistic man and he was trying his hardest to keep me entertained while I was sitting model. Just as my Duke entered the room Pandolf had just told me a rather amusing story from the town. My Duke entered and I saw something in his eyes change. He stood in the workroom for a moment and then told Pandolf that he was done for the day. After this little incident I noticed a bitter change in my Duke. He seems acidly, jealous and somewhat possessive of me. Today a young man from the town came into our orchard and gave me some cherries. It seems the boy has somewhat effectuation of me and so I treated him nicely and thanked him for the cherries. The Duke saw this from the sitting room and because of my actions, he began to accuse me of having a relationship towards the young man. I told him no and that my heart was only for him, but he believed me not and he grew awfully angry and I returned to my chamber with a reminder on my cheek never to upset my husband. And so I am writing this letter to you dearest sister. I am sure he is just having a dreadful week and it will all improve nevertheless I would like to hear your thoughts on this.
Yours truly

  1. Good portrait of the doomed Duchess who doesn't realize how much danger she is in...
    A small error:
"infatuation" or "affectation" - not "effectuation"
