Author Function: Novelist. Abstract Notion: Love

Those Phrases of Love

Love is all around is such a common and used expression. It starts to sound like a broken record. What if there is only one love out there? I mean, if we only get one shot. We keep on our toes, scared that we might miss it. Maybe it will pass by too quickly, before we notice it was even there. It’s nothing that hasn’t been said before. Love becomes a cliché too easily to someone like me. You can dream about love, or you can write about love, but does it really make it true? Because someone wrote about love at first sight, it doesn’t mean it is out there. Love might be at every corner, but what about those who run in circles?

I believe the word is misused in many situations, due to some of those expressions. Many times we don’t realize that we love the little things as well. We’re not just searching for love in the sense of a partner to share our life with. We’re searching for love in our family, friends, a puppy, artwork or maybe that movie we watched a few years ago and twenty-five times since then. I love listening to music and I would be heartbroken if I lost that moment I have each day where I just sit and listen to a new song or maybe that old song, which obtain a special place in my heart. Call me a dreamer, but that kind of songs are the closest I get to love… so far.

  1. Doesn't really capture the voice of a novelist - no detailed description, no setting at all in fact. It could be a narrator musing in the first person, but that is usually what we call a monologue, which is the work of dramatists and screen-writers...
