Writing game 2 (2. course) - Lady Lazarus

I’ve killed her twice: once whilst she was still breathing and

once in my mind leaving only a bad conscience behind.

I extracted from her, her salient being, with a cold and

indifferent look as I squeezed her tiny throat - perhaps an inch or two too far,

halting her final breath only to see: an empty ghaze and a wide-opened jar.

She would no longer be easily impressed, not even make a sound, buried six feet

under the ground - and yet I cannot help but recall, the reminiscences of

her promiscuous beauty, painted on the wall.

  1. spine-chilling, and very clever 'intertextuality?' (right word) with the Sylvia Plath reference!

  3. Thank you very much. :) I'm glad you noticed my intertextuality (I think this is the right word though the embedded dictionary doesn't agree) and that my remediation (it doesn't recognize this word either) of "My Last Duchess" in general had an affect on you. :)

  4. Good job! I assume it is still the Duke speaking? Could that be made clearer, somehow?

And intertextuality and remediation are the right words, but affect is not! ;-)

  5. Yes, it is the Duke speaking! Maybe I should have introduced him?

ahhh.. I must have meant "affectation"?
