Author Function: Prophet Topic: Knowledge

What I am about to tell you is the divine truth.

Knowledge will change the world. Whether it will be for good or evil is up to you.

You can gain knowledge about the future by learning from the past. You can, however, only learn if you are willing to listen.

If you choose to accept the knowledge you are offered, then you are responsible for the consequences of using said knowledge.

You can only utilize your knowledge if you keep your mind open to the possibilities that will arise.

Knowledge is a fleeting term, and the knowledge you gain will not be the same knowledge that others gain.

It is, therefore, essential that you combine your knowledge with that of your fellow human beings in order to create permanent changes.

You will need to find people that you share a vision with, so that the result you achieve will be the result you aimed for.

I have entrusted this knowledge – which was entrusted to me by a divine authority – to you, so that you could spread it amongst your fellows.

Now go and change the world with your newfound knowledge!

Note: Speculation on author function

Had this text been written with a different author function such as a dramatist or a poet it could have worked just fine with only slight revisioning.

It would, however, seem slighty sarcastic if it was rewritten into a novel, unless of course it was written as The Bible 2.0.

The angle from which each author sees and interprets the text can, therefore, be said to influence the way the reader perceives the text. Ergo, the text changes as the author function changes.

  1. I always like the Prophet posts, although your prophet tends to sound a bit like a fortune teller too!
