Monologue

I love my dog

I love nature and freedom

I especially love combining them.

A walk on the beach with my dog is heaven for me

To look at the bay, the waves roar and how the water softly washes ashore.

To look at the sun making the beach and the bay sparkle with joy

To see my dog running, chasing swallows, excited to be at the beach and climbs up on the old air-raid shelters with me.

Watching him play, bathe and dig in the sand where he always put his whole head down and sniff, excited of what he may find.

In the winter where I play with him on the ice at the shore and watches him jump from one lump of ice to another, while I take pictures of him.

In the summer where I go swimming in the sea, and he just wants to join me, so he swims out to me even though he is scared when he cannot reach the bottom and he depend on me to hold him.

Our walks on the beach make me feel free, happy, fortunate and alive

I wish I could be with my dog right now, at the beach being free.

Speculation:

For this monologue I could just as easy have chosen nature or freedom, but I chose love because this is my love to my dog who I miss so much, and if I had chosen nature or freedom, it would not have meant as much to me, I would not have been as emotional writing it as I have been now. 204 words

  1. I can really relate to this description of nature and walking in it with a companion. Well written :-)

  2. This is also a memoir, or a diary entry, I think - not that that is bad... For it to be a monologue we have to imagine it spoken aloud to us as listeners, and that is missing in your text...

  3. Well I can clearly imagine it spoken out aloud. In a apecial scene.

  4. Sure it can be spoken aloud as a form of memorial, if that is what you mean. Good point.
