Narcissus

With the grime washed off
Indeed, the effort need be enough
And when your tries are devoid
Of a spirit no longer aloft
You might just grudgingly consent
You might just bow and accept
That Narcissus is a religion
Performed by each and everyone
By those both honored and shunned
No, do not let yourself be deceived
Monsters do have faces like ours
Monsters will have faces like yours
And if you find this not to suffice,
Narcissus is a religion – I’ll tell you this twice

  1. This is nice. I enjoy the thought of Narcissus being the religion nowadays. It describes my feelings towards a part of society pretty well. Good job!

  2. It's always easier with a backwards phrase consisting of two words of the same word-class separated by only an 'and' - but good job in controlled creativity.

I like the subject matter of your poem very much. If Narcissus is our God what does he command us to do?
