This is just to say
I have marked
your portfolios
that were in
my postbox
and which
you were probably
anxious
to hear about
Forgive me
they were delicious
so accomplished
and so cool
In prose: all who have handed in have received a pass grade (with the exception of one student who failed on a technicality. That student has been notified separately).
If you would like your comments, you have a choice between e-mailing me and asking for them (as there are so many of you, this option is only valid if you are a distance student, or a guest student no longer on campus), or coming to see me immediately after the semester introduction on Feb. 1st, 10-11 a.m. Failing that, e-mail me to set up an appointment at another time...
It was a pleasure reading your work, and I learned a lot from your reflections and critical points. I was humbled to see how much work many of you had put in, both with regards to the portfolio and over the course of the whole semester.
Thanks!
Bent
PS: In the beginning of the post am parodying the poet-doctor, William Carlos Williams' great poem about plums and love, "This is just to say"...

Dear Students,
Thanks for posting the Exquisite Corpses. I've done a Wordle of all the material you put in the Corpse posts, thus creating what amounts to a snapshot of your collective unconscious at the moment of composing these seemingly random texts.
It seems that the single thing most people were talking about was CARS - not surprisingly perhaps because I had just shown you an example sentence with the word car in it..!
Other words that stick out are CRAZY and MIND - good words about the process you were asked to go through...
What else do you see in the Wordle, I wonder??

After the first class...
Lots of students have already accepted their invites and become authors on the blog. If you have not received your I may not have you on the list, so send me your e-mail address and you'll get invited I can always be e-mailed at this address: bent[at]cgs.aau.dk...
In the meantime I hope you have had or are having fun with your first home-finished writing game and are dying to post your striking phrase (found when reading backwards through your free writing) - and the text this phrase inspired you to compose! Remember that I'd like to see what your backwards seed phrase was, so highlight it (using colour or bold font or any other conspicuous technique you prefer)...

Welcome
Dear Students,
Welcome to your friendly blog environment for your class on creative writing in the AAU English programme, Fall 2011!
This blog is where most of our communication outside the classroom will take place. Here you will post your texts that you have created in response to the writing games and tasks we will be working with through the semester. I'll contribute with admin posts telling you what to do for the coming week, informing you of new uploads of teaching materials etc., etc.
The blog also has the unique interactive feature of allowing comments, feedback and discussion of posts - something that will help you in revising and improving your posts for the final portfolio that constitutes your exam in this class. Practice commenting on each others posts. Be honest and straightforward, but not unfriendly and abusive.
